✨ Visual improvements
SSR — Screen Space Reflections
Screen Space Reflections have been added to the rendering pipeline.
SSR allows surfaces to reflect elements of the surrounding environment, providing more realistic reflections on floors, walls, and other reflective surfaces.
The effect can be configured through the rendering pipeline settings and is particularly useful for scenes containing reflective materials.
FSR — FidelityFX Super Resolution
FidelityFX Super Resolution has also been added to Realm-Crafting.
FSR allows the scene to be rendered at a lower internal resolution and then reconstructed to produce a sharper final image. This can improve both image quality and performance depending on the selected quality level.
Both SSR and FSR are now available as part of the rendering pipeline options.
✴ Lens Flares
Realm-Crafting 4.1 introduces Lens Flares for both objects and lights.
Lens flares can be used to add visual effects to bright objects, light sources, lamps, or other elements of a scene.
For each lens flare, you can configure:
-
Image — The image used for the lens flare.
-
Size — The size of the flare.
-
Position — The position of the flare along the line between the camera and the object.
-
Color — The color of the flare.
The position parameter also allows the flare to be moved along the camera-to-object line, making it possible to create different visual effects.
Lens flares are previewed directly in the editor, allowing you to see the result immediately while working on your scene.
🪸 Decals
One of the main additions in version 4.1 is the new Decals system.
Decals allow you to add visual details directly onto 3D objects without modifying their original textures.
They can be used for many different purposes, for example:
-
Graffiti on walls
-
Dirt and dust
-
Scratches
-
Bullet impacts
-
Stains
-
Logos and brands
-
Clothing details
-
Tears and other surface details
Level Editor
In the Level Editor, decals can be added directly to objects.
A dedicated Decals panel allows you to activate the decal placement mode, select an image, adjust its size and rotation, and control its Z-offset.
When placement mode is active, moving the mouse over the selected object displays a real-time preview of the decal.
Simply click to place it.
Multiple decals can be placed on the same object, and each decal can use a different image and configuration.
Once placement mode is disabled, the decals remain attached to the object and follow its transformations.
Character Editor
The same system is also available in the Character Editor.
This makes it possible to add details to characters such as:
-
Clothing logos
-
Brands
-
Stains
-
Dirt
-
Tears
-
Tattoos
-
Other decorative details
As with the Level Editor, decals can be previewed before placement and several decals can be added to the same character.
🛠 Editor improvements and fixes
Terrain Editor
Fixed an issue where the terrain editor tools incorrectly deactivated the camera.
Breadcrumb
Fixed an issue where the breadcrumb remained active when switching to other editors.
The breadcrumb is now active only in the Level Editor.
Gizmo
Fixed an issue where the gizmo could be incomplete when selecting an object for the second time, preventing the object from being moved.
Drag & Drop
Fixed an issue where image drag and drop did not correctly retrieve the path of the selected media.
Game Rating System
Fixed several bugs introduced in version 4.0.0 by the new game rating system.
Portal Spawn
Fixed player orientation and camera positioning when spawning at a portal.
🧩 Scene Composition
Realm-Crafting 4.1 also introduces an automatic default composition behavior.
Objects dropped directly from the root of a scene are now automatically placed inside a Scene composition.
If no Scene composition exists yet, Realm-Crafting automatically creates one.
This simplifies scene organization and avoids having to manually create the composition before adding objects.
🔧 Engine Update
Realm-Crafting has been updated to Babylon.js 9.29.0.
This brings the latest engine improvements, fixes, and optimizations into the Realm-Crafting rendering engine.
